Gamador Biosphere – Ankara's New Generation Living Sphere
The Gamador Biosphere Concept Project was submitted as an invited competition proposal.
Gamador Biosphere is a large-scale, multi-purpose living structure located in the heart of Ankara and the first of its kind in Turkey, offering an integrated experience of nature, climate control, and a variety of functions. This iconic structure aims to provide a seamless blend of new-generation shopping, living, art, and technology experiences through its architectural and ecological design, while also housing one of the world’s largest indoor arboretums.
Architecture Blending with Nature
With its wave-shaped roof, highly transparent facades and dense vegetation inside, Biosphere blurs the visible boundary between nature and architecture. Thanks to the controlled climate inside the glass structure, users can enjoy the same level of comfort throughout the four seasons, basking in natural light and surrounded by green spaces in social and commercial areas.
Functional and Thematic Concepts:
* Shopping: Flagship stores, boutique brands, pop-up experience areas.
* Gastronomy: Restaurants featuring world cuisines, farm-to-table concepts, workshops.
* Culture & Art: Theatre and concert venues, art galleries, creative workshops.
* E-sports & Technology: High-tech e-sports arenas, interactive gaming centres.
* Children & Family: Education and entertainment centres, safe play areas, children's theatres.
* Business & Accommodation: Serviced residences, modern offices, incubator centres, and flexible workspaces.
Arboretum & Ecosystem
The spacious green areas located inside the biosphere offer an urban nature experience with thematic botanical gardens, elevated park areas and walking trails. At the same time, rainwater harvesting, solar panels and natural ventilation systems reinforce the project's sustainable architecture goals.
Smart and Sustainable Living Model
Gamador Biosphere is a structure equipped with smart building infrastructure and IoT systems, with all processes managed digitally using BIM technology. It sets an example in terms of both architectural quality and technical performance with its energy efficiency, use of environmentally friendly materials, and compliance with international standards.
